The Brown Bears football program has a long and quite remarkable history. The Bears gridiron squad represents Brown University in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. The program started in 1878, and they have played hard ever since. Players such as Fritz Pollard, Sean Morey, John Sinnott, Thomas Gilbane, Joe Paterno, Roderic Parson, and more have donned the letter "B" on the football field. Some of the more famous moments are the 1915 Rose Bowl appearance of the Bears, the 1926 season where the "Iron Men" came into being when the same 11 players played against Yale for 60 minutes and a 7–0 win, and the following week when the same group played without substitution to defeat Dartmouth. Great tradition and excellent stories of football lore reside with this group!

Brown Bears and a great history of their Stadium
Brown Stadium is quickly approaching its 100th season of use. Despite its long history, Brown Stadium just doesn’t seem to get the love that some of the Ivy League’s other facilities get. Still, college football fans could do a lot worse than taking in a game in a laid-back atmosphere on a gorgeous fall afternoon in Rhode Island’s — stadiumjourney.com
